Questions
Before you tap in.
Everything about the bookmark, the app, early access and getting your order. Can’t find it? Send word.
Early access
What is Bookish?
A ritual for readers. The Bookish app casts cinematic scenes to your TV while you read, and the smart bookmark lets you move between scenes with a single tap, without ever leaving the page.
Is Bookish available yet?
Not quite. The app is in its final stages of development and the first bookmarks are being made. Join early access and you’ll be first to know, and first through the door.
What do early-access readers get?
First access to the app before the public launch, first looks at new scene packs, and 10% off the smart bookmark at launch.
Can I watch the scenes now?
Yes. Our scenes are free to watch on YouTube. Cast one to your TV, dim the lights and start reading.
The bookmark
Do I need the bookmark to use Bookish?
No. You can browse, play and cast every scene straight from the app. The bookmark adds one-tap control while you read.
Does the bookmark need charging?
Never. It uses passive NFC and has no battery, so there’s nothing to charge, ever.
Which phones are compatible?
Bookish needs a phone with NFC to read the tap, and casting to play scenes on your TV.
- iPhone: iPhone 7 or later on iOS 13+. NFC is built in and always on, no setup needed.
- Android: most Android phones from 2018 onward. Turn on NFC in Settings › Connected devices.
Not sure about yours? Ask us.
What happens when I tap it?
The first tap opens Bookish and starts the first scene in your chosen pack. Every tap after that moves you to the next scene.
Does my phone need to stay nearby?
Your phone carries the signal to your TV, so keep it within reach: in your pocket or on the arm of your chair. It doesn’t need to touch the bookmark.
Will it damage my book?
No. It’s slim (3mm) with rounded, hand-finished edges designed to sit safely between pages. See bookmark care for keeping it beautiful.
App & Premium
Is the app free?
Yes. Free to download, with free scene packs always.
What does Bookish Premium include?
The full scene library, ambient soundscapes, TV casting and new worlds as they drop. It’s planned at £4.99 a month, cancel any time. Every bookmark includes 3 months free. More on Premium.
What do I need to cast scenes to my TV?
iPhone casts via AirPlay to an Apple TV or AirPlay-enabled TV. Android casts via Chromecast built-in or a Google Cast-enabled TV. No smart TV? A Chromecast, Apple TV or Fire TV plugged into any screen works too.
Can my book club use Bookish?
Bookclubs by Bookish is coming to the app. Register your club to be a founding club.
